Your opportunity
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and committed Teaching Assistant with pastoral responsibilities, who will also serve as Deputy Year Leader for Year 8. This combined role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on both the academic and personal development of our students.
As part of the classroom team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Class Teacher to deliver high‑quality learning experiences, contributing to the progress, welfare and overall development of students. You will work directly with individuals and small groups, including those requiring specialist support, and may also deliver targeted interventions outside the classroom depending on your strengths and areas of expertise.
Alongside this, you will take on key pastoral responsibilities as Deputy Year Leader for Year 8. Working closely with the Year Leader, you will help promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and achievement, providing tailored support to students and families. You will contribute to creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing school culture, ensuring that every student feels supported and able to thrive.

What we are looking for
- Adaptability, resilience and being able to think on your feet are essential in this varied role
- An ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
- A good command of English and Mathematics are necessities (at GCSE level)
- Strong ICT skills
- An understanding of special educational needs in a mainstream setting
- You should be patient and calm, with a consistent and positive approach to managing student behaviour, and understand how students learn
- You should be a flexible team player with an interest in developing further professionally

The Details
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Associate 2.2 - £23,970 FTE plus £3,527 for pastoral responsibilities
Actual Salary: £23,575.44 (incl. additional payment for pastoral responsibilities)
Hours: 35hrs a week - Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm (term time 39 weeks per year)
Contract Type: Permanent
