Are you an experienced Clerk looking for additional work? At GLF Schools, we are looking for great people to join our Governance Team on a casual basis.

Your Opportunity

Our local governance structure is customised for our Multi Academy Trust. We recognise the value of retaining a local governance committee for our schools and call these committees School Standards Boards (SSBs). Our SSBs meet six times per year and are supported by a team of experienced Clerks.

We are currently seeking to create a bank of experienced and flexible Clerks to support our Governance Team on a casual basis.

This opportunity will involve providing cover support when the regular clerk is not able to attend/administer their usual meetings for any reason.

We are looking for candidates to join us across the following areas: Banbury, Didcot, Wokingham, Camberley, Sunbury, Epsom, Banstead, Caterham, Croydon, Redhill, Crawley and Horsham. A full list of our schools can be found on the GLF Schools website.

Please describe in your supporting statement which areas you wish to be considered for.

What we are looking for

The role and salary includes travelling to the school(s) to attend meetings where required. The clerking duties and travel costs are included as part of the hourly rate. We require candidates to have access to a computer, printer and the internet at home as most of the work will largely be home based outside of attending any scheduled meetings in a specific school across the Trust.

The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in school governance, ensuring they keep abreast with current educational developments and legislation affecting schools as well as knowing about how governance works in GLF Schools. A clerk must be independent, a person of integrity with strong interpersonal skills, organisational skills and a positive attitude.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Organised and have the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable to suit the needs and requirements of the Trust.
  • Confident in communicating with all levels.
  • Able to remain professional when handling confidential material.
  • Knowledgeable about governance procedures and educational legislation and guidance and/or willingness to develop knowledge.

Join the GLF Schools Community

As a part of GLF Schools, you will join a community of staff dedicated to transforming education. With regular progression discussions, there will be a wealth of opportunities for you to grow your career, whether in one of our 42 academies or in our central team.

  • A growing Multi Academy Trust with over 2,000 colleagues and over 16,000 pupils
  • Founded upon the values of Respect, Inclusivity, Integrity and Kindness
  • 42 primary and secondary schools across 7 Local Authority areas across the south of England
  • We work as a community whilst ensuring each school maintains its own unique identity
  • Committed to ensuring all children and young people receive the best possible education.
