Your opportunity

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic English teacher to join our highly successful English department. We are very proud of the strength within the team and the successes of our students: over 20% of our students attained the top grades in their GCSE last year, significantly surpassing their FFT grades.

There is the opportunity to teach a rich and varied curriculum, exploring a range of topics from Myths and Legends, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Chaucer in Year 7, to seminal world poetry and modern texts such as The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time in Year 8. Alongside the study of conflict, love and how those two ideas intertwine in Romeo and Juliet, students in year 9 have the opportunity to consider the media through our Film unit as well as exploring big ideas such as the portrayal of gender, power and race in the modern day world and in literature through the ages. At GCSE, students study An Inspector Calls, Macbeth, AQA’s Power and Conflict poetry anthology alongside Jekyll and Hyde creating a broad and powerful knowledge base for further study at A Level.

We are interested in hearing from all candidates, no matter what point in your career you are currently at, and welcome flexible working arrangements on a full time or part time permanent contract.
