We are seeking a Teacher of Mathematics to join our large team of dedicated specialists. We are looking for a passionate teacher who can bring the subject to life and inspire high levels of learning within a positive learning environment.

We welcome applications from colleagues who wish to work part time or full time.  This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified teacher, or a more experienced colleague to join us.

About The Beacon School

The Beacon School is part of the thriving GLF Schools Multi-Academy Trust. We proudly serve our local community and are enormously proud of the support that we receive from that community. Our teaching staff are well-supported in developing an outstanding curriculum alongside a broad range of enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities.

We know that we get the best out of all our staff when we invest in them. Staff are trusted and their professional development is a key priority. Colleagues have access to an extensive programme of internal and external training opportunities and being part of one of the largest trusts in the country ensures our colleagues’ excellent career opportunities. The school is an exciting and innovative place to work, and we would strongly encourage all applicants to visit us and witness first-hand the vibrancy of our community, as we continue our journey of school improvement.

About the Faculty of Mathematics

The Faculty is a forward-thinking department with a strong focus on professional development, consisting of passionate mathematics teachers who seek to pass on their love for the subject to the students we teach. We seek to develop thinking skills and creativity through quality teaching that equips our young people with the ability to make informed decisions for themselves in all aspects of their future. Our teaching is informed by best practice and a spirit of collaboration, in line with The Beacon School’s focus on implementing Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction. Collaboration plays a key role in supporting all members of the team to improve their practice and our staff are encouraged to share best practice both within the Faculty and across the school.

The Faculty maintains links with other Mathematics departments – both secondary and primary - throughout GLF and are further supported by a Trust Lead for Mathematics. This network of quality practitioners allows us to respond to the needs of the department and the individual teacher, helping them to become the best teacher they can be. We also have established links with the North-East Hampshire & Surrey MathsHub, giving our staff further access to exceptional professional development.

We have developed and implemented a carefully planned curriculum for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with a focus on small steps and securing learning, rather than acceleration through content. This allows all our students to aspire to gain the highest possible grades they can at the end of Year 11.

As part of our team, you will be expected to inspire students through a love of the subject, be committed to your own professional development and play a full role in refining our curriculum and supporting colleagues.
