We currently have two vacancies for a Clerk to the School Standards Board within our Banbury cluster of schools, which includes Longford Park Primary, William Morris Primary, Hardwick Primary and our brand new school Cherryfields Primary. Each successful candidate will be designated two schools within this cluster  (two SSB's cover four schools).   Please note, to avoid any conflict of interest, the individuals will need to be independent from the school they will be placed in.

We recognise the value of retaining a local governance committee for our schools and call these ​committees School Standards Boards. 

About the Banbury Cluster

Consisting of four schools, the Banbury cluster has a collaborative approach towards working, which means the schools can work closely together to provide an outstanding educational experience to the local communities. The schools benefit from being able to share resources and support each other where needed. Longford Park (Nursery to Year 3) and Cherry Fields (Nursery to Reception) are exciting, brand new schools. Hardwick is a fantastic, established one form entry primary school and William Morris is an outstanding, one form entry primary school

What we are looking for

The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in school governance, ensuring they keep abreast with current educational developments and legislation affecting schools ​as well as knowing about how governance works in GLF. A clerk must be ​independent, a person of integrity with strong interpersonal skills, organisational skills and a positive attitude.  

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Organised and have the ability to work to tight deadlines. 
  • Flexible and adaptable to suit the needs and requirements of the Trust.
  • Confident in communicating with all levels.
  • Able to remain professional when handling confidential material.
  • Knowledgeable about governance procedures and educational legislation and guidance and/or willingness to develop knowledge.

The Details

Hours: The role will involve clerking 6 two-hour meetings over the academic year. The hours of work will be 109 hours across the year, for 38 weeks of the year. 

Salary: G8 FTE : £28,653 

Pro-rata salary: £1,896
